AssetWise System Management Console Help

Adding Custom Engines to the Community

CAUTION: The Engines node within a community does not require any setup in a default system configuration. This area should only be configured if you are an administrator who is customizing the system and who has experience using the eB SDK.

When you enable a service for a community in AssetWise System Management Console, that service's engines are automatically added to the Engines node within the community and registered in the database as being used with that server. For example, when you go to the Rendition node and check the check box to enable the Rendition Service for your community, then the following individual engines are added to the Engines node of that community:

  • eB Rendition Engine (eB.Engine.Rendition)
  • InterPlot File Rendition (eB.Engine.InterPlotRenditionEngine)

If you have created any custom engines, you can add them to a community by selecting the Engines node within the community and clicking either the Add Stored Procedure Engine icon or the Add .NET Assembly Engine icon in the toolbar, depending on the type of engine it is you are adding.

You can remove an engine from the list if it is no longer being used by selecting the engine and clicking the Delete Engine icon in the toolbar. Again, this only removes it from the list, it does not delete the physical engine file.

Double-click any engine in the list to open the Properties dialog for that engine.

On the Properties dialog, click Manage Server Registration. This opens another dialog that lists the servers on which this engine is registered. If you are restoring a database, you will have to remove the entry and re-add a new server.
